Medical office opens a center for cardiac excellence 

New york, ny, july 1, 2009:  Doctors Medical Group, a multi-specialty medical office chain opens up a comprehensive cardiac care center in the Washington Heights section of upper Manhattan.  The group, which is known in the community as “DMG” and has locations in Bronx and Manhattan, already has many specialties such as Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Women’s Health, Physical Therapy and others. The Heart Center at DMG, which is scheduled to begin seeing patients on August 5^th, 2009, is utilizing the latest diagnostic technology and specially trained cardiologists and technicians to serve their patients and the patients of other physicians in the area.

New York City and its boroughs have very high incidents of heart disease compared with the rest of the country.  “Our patient base has a great need for this type of sub-specialty care,” says Faruk Khwaja, CEO of the management company that runs DMG.  He adds, “The demographics of our marketplace have dictated our decision in opening this center of excellence in cardiac care.”

The Heart Center at DMG is run by Dr. Salman Haq, MD, an interventional cardiologist trained at Brooklyn’s Methodist Hospital and who is now affiliated with Columbia University Medical Center cardiology group.  DMG has selected the Columbia team to provide its heart center with highly trained cardiologists and its Catheterization Lab services for any necessary invasive, cardiac procedures.
